The Business
The Carreg Restaurant is an innovative establishment in Pembrokeshire which specialises in hot rock cuisine, meeting the needs of both regular locals and seasonal tourists. It is located in a small town with other sights and attractions which means that walk-in customers may wish to relax around town while they wait for their table.

The Problem
In order to keep customers updated on whether their table is ready, The Carreg intended to obtain a pager system so that customers could be advised wherever they were in town. However, the cost of this was prohibitive and it was felt that a bespoke software solution would be more cost-effective and provide greater overall functionality.

The Solution
Alpha Systems specified and implemented a bespoke CRM solution which allows The Carreg to not only make reservations for customers and keep in touch with them by SMS but also to retain history of their bookings and preferences.
A networked installation was provided which could allow resturant staff to take bookings from the restaurant itself while management could also review the database from the office.
Additional functionality came as a side effect of this in that by recording customer anniversaries, etc. existing customers could not only be contacted at at low-cost, by email, when there are menu changes, special events, etc. but such messages can also be tailored to suit customer's special occasions.
